OTTO is OCC’s automated out-calling system, created to deliver emergency notifications to facility operators that rely on a phone call to receive these notices.
Here’s how he works:
- After the ticket information is sent, OTTO calls the appropriate phone number from the notification center’s facility operator database.
- OTTO communicates the ticket information to the affected utility operator.
- The user can then choose to listen to some, part or all of the locate request.
- Unlike humans, OTTO can handle several outgoing calls at once. His only limitation is the number of computer ports and phone lines allocated.
